I heard a cool rumor at Shadybowl last night......... I heard that Waynesfield is getting something like $40,000 worth of CLAY hauled in after this racing season......-is this true?? If so....and if they get the right type of clay (not the POND CLAY that LMP has)...then it is a very wise step in the progression of the track. Can anyone confirm this rumor?

WELL.....I don't know?? Earlier in the season, Greg Shobe said in a drivers meeting that he researched it and found out that it will take $30k - $40k to get new clay brought in. He also said that he needed to get alot more fans in the bleachers to generate the cash flow needed. The car counts are great and the spectators are growing. We can always hope. Invite all your friends and hopefully it will speed this up!!

Why does the track need a new surface. I've never read a negative post about the surface. I assumed everyone was happy with dry, slick and some dust. Seems to me that they would want to leave it alone. Otherwise, when they have a bad track, it gives everyone a topic to beat them up over like they do on LMP's link.I'd spend the money on better purses and advertising. They have a small fan base. It seems strange to see more people in the pits than the grandstands. Their north granstand has mainly race team affiliates. Where's the average Joe? How about a website like real tracks have? Are we going to see a real water truck to keep the "clay" in good shape. If they ever throw mud on the guard rails, how do you scrape lines in them for safety? Speaking of safety, I don't think you can compare Wanynesfields safety crew to LMP. Where's their proof of insurance? Are there scales yet. How do they tech. Do they run under UMP sanction. What is the season point fund worth in each class? If everyone thinks the surface is soooo racey and easy on equipment, why not spend some money answering some of the questions an average race fan like me has? Not putting anyone down, just wondering.

First of all, Waynesfield is only 3 years old...not 67 or 68 years old like Limaland. Waynesfield is owned and operated by the guy who's farmland you are standing on when you are there, and was/is funded by him. He is also the one who built the track from said farmland...much like Earl Baltes....did Eldora look like it does now in it's 3rd year of operation....NO! The track surface is field dirt, and is not clay.......hence it is dry/slick. Field dirt doesn't hold moisture, nor does it get tacky like clay.

Maybe people aren't on here raising a bunch of he11 about Waynesfield because there is no need to.

well said 1 fast 83. In my mind, Greg (track owner) and his family are doing a wonderful job of building a top notch facility but it takes time. They know exactly what they need to work on but they always listen to you even if they've heard the same thing before. Our world evolves around money and this is exactly what Greg needs to make these improvements that you are talking about. He will do them as the fundage allows him to do them. Stick with him!

I thought the track was more racey in the features last year than this year, they probly need a little better track prep, maybe put more water on it beforehand or something and last year I think they worked it up during the week and applied water as they worked it back down,at any rate I do like the smooth surface and am tryin to get my car to run better on the slick track, so I kinda figure that to be a challenge too
