I can't understand why you don't get 50+ cars in mods. No one is racing them in the immediate area. Good money, nice folks, a timely show. great track conditions. What more could racers ask for???

Thanks for your continued support of Montpelier. Tim and the whole Cornett crew are always a pleasant addition to the racing there. I came in late last week and was bummed to see the 35 already on the trailer.

We seem to have reached that point in the year when many teams have used their budget for the year and they are parked. It has come sooner this year than I can ever remember. In the past it seemed to happen in late August to early September, but this year it has happened about a month sooner. Like I said on another topic, there are a lot of people who are only racing 1 night a week, only racing at 1 track and don't go anywhere else when that track takes a night off, or done for the year. For the reasons you stated, you would think a lot of the guys who race at Butler, Eldora, Waynesfield, Union County, and Lima would come to Montpelier. But it seems like even when those tracks cancel or have a night off, only a couple regulars from those tracks show up.

I've talked to several people in many different classes who have cars that are either close to being done or just need to fix something that broke, but don't have the money to do it. Then you have guys like me who have a motor and a car, but no money to put it together and a job that has taken me away from being able to race there anyway. Harold has definitely stepped up to the plate and offered more money. The track prep is without a doubt the best it has ever been. Unfortunately it seems like car counts in this area are just falling off no matter what the payout or quality of the track may be. I've said for 2 years that the place just needs a true headliner class, but with the economy I can understand why they haven't put up the money to do it. With nice weather for this weekend (for once) hopefully they can get a good number of cars in all classes.
